ALLISON PARK SUPPORTS YARD SALE FOR THE CURE

Chris Ecklund was recently contacted by Kevin Foster, president and owner of Snap Hamilton. They had a long discussion about a very worthwhile cause called "Yard Sale for the Cure". A Toronto friend of Kevin's is fighting breast cancer, and started a yard sale to raise money for the purpose of funding breast cancer research. Chris needed less than five seconds to decide that he was going to support this endeavor all the way.

Chris will host this event in Allison Park on May 26, 2007, which is the national day for Yard Sale for the Cure. Anyone who knows Chris knows that he never takes halfway measures with anything, so he will be pulling out the stops to make this a memorable success. Par-T-Perfect will be brought in, along with games, balloon twisters, inflatible rides, and face painters who will paint small pink ribbons on the childrens' cheeks. A BBQ will also be held- Chris is meeting with a national restaurant to see if they are interested.

Spots will be made available for Allison Park residents to sell any old or unwanted items in exchange for a donation toward breast cancer research. Kevin Foster has indicated that the cancer clinic on Concession will be named as the primary choice for receiving the donations. To assist anyone who wants to sell large objects such as used furniture, Chris will be renting a moving truck.

Chris recently posted in the community blog, "We can easily get 100 vendors into our park and if we charge 25 bucks per spot, thats $ 2,500.00 right there. Throw in our usual bbq and draws and that should raise another $ 1,000.00."

Advertising for the event is already under way, K-Lite FM is already aboard, and the founder of the event, Mrs. Rachael Smith, is expected to be interviewed live on the air shortly.
